This is the video tribute to my mom that I made for her wake. People have told me that it shows just how warm and loving of a woman she was. I felt that it brought everyone in the room onto the same page, whether you hadn't seen her in ten years, or if you were there during her last days.

Watch it in full screen, the quality has reduced by posting. If anyone would like a full resolution version, email me to wwhalberg@gmail.com, and I will figure something out. Please share this with anyone my mom knew. Thank you,

30th wedding anniversary

Heres my latest poem that I wrote for my husband for our 30th wedding anniversary on May 10

You make me laugh,
You make me smile,
Thats what keeps me going
that extra mile.

You're always there to help me be strong,
Sometimes the road can be so long.

30 years of good times and bad,
Still the best times I could ever have.

Our relationship is definately a work of art,
A bright and vivid color chart !
I love you Bill with all my heart.

I have always been happy to be your wife,
Thank you for being in my life !

Love Renee :) 5/10/2010

Springin, Sprungin, Burpin, Chirpin

Spring has sprung,
the snow is done!

The birds are chirpin,
the buds are burpin.

Here come the rains,
to wash away the old,
and refresh the new.

Get out the lawn chairs,
and the barbecue !

Feel the sun on your faces,
time for Spring cleaning,
for big and small spaces.

Soon there will be weeds, bugs,
and central air,
so enjoy sweet Spring,
without a care !

Inspired

I havent been inspired to work on my blog for along time until recently. I love writing poems and this morning the beautiful Spring rain inspired me.
Here is the poem I wrote;

Rainy day

Rain is so soothing ,
comforting and calm.
Unless thunder, lightning and wind come along.
Its nice to have the warm sunny haze,
but to go with it we need a few rainy days.
The trickling of water,
like the tick of a clock,
or a full blown storm,
when the hail hits your door as it knocks.
The rain has surrendered,
grass and trees are now green.
The sun makes its way back,
and everything gleams !

I planted this one Tulip bulb four years ago from a plant that my daughter recieved. It came up every year but never produced a flower. I didnt have the heart to just dig it up and throw it, so I continued to just let it come up every Spring. I even bought some new bulbs and planted them this last Fall and they are coming up nicely with buds on them. This year to my surprise the four year old Tulip finally produced a flower. I was so thrilled, that I had to write a poem about it ! Springtime is so beautiful, and can be so inspiring.

Four Year Old Tulip

My four year old Tulip,
That never bloomed.
I let it come up every year,
But looked at it with gloom.
This year it surprised me,
With a beautiful bloom !
A little hope,
And tender loving care,
My handicapped plant
Has now been spared.

Ovarian Cancer Survivor

I am a Ovarian cancer survivor. I have been fighting and surviving this since January 2005. I was in remission when I wrote this poem. For the last few years I have needed chemo treatments again, but I am doing well.

The chemo is done,
But the brain fog is still there.
Oh how good it feels,
To run a comb through my hair!
The stitchs are healed,
But the scars still do show,
Surviving cancer can be a long road to tow.
Check ups and blood tests,
Fears and emotions,
Cancer can cause quite a commotion !
I look to the sky,
The flowers and trees,
I hear the soft rain.
The whispering breeze.
I am so thankful for each day,
That I can still experience these things.
After cancer you look differently,
At all the joys that life brings.
To all the people who have experienced what I've known,
We all have each other,
We're not alone.

Morning Coffee

I wrote this poem years ago, maybe in the year 2000 or so, but It is one of my favorites

Morning Coffee

Don't make me laugh so early,
It hurts my face !
Need to slurp down more coffee,
Isn't that a disgrace?
I'm glad I am smiling though,
and not have a frown,
With a frown my day would be upside down !
Isn't it fun to start your day,
Clowning around ?

Renee :)

The lace kitchen curtains,
blowing gently in the wind,
the dust settles on the sill.

It is ever so quiet and peaceful,
everything else is so still.

The wind blows against the curtains,
like a soft whisper,
I drift into thought.

It rests my mind,
it rests my soul,
life can take a toll.

Then the phone rings,
dinner needs to get done,
there's laundry to do,
to the store I must run.

Oh, but that wonderful quiet moment,
the wind gently blowing the curtains,
The warmth of the sun.

We must all take a minute or two each day,
to have this kind of fun.

Reborn

The first Spring rain,
On the window pane,
The smell of fresh cut grass.
Planting seeds in the rich dark soil,
The fruits of my labor bare no toil.
Sitting on the lawnchair,
Gazing at the moon,
Smelling the Apple blossoms,
And the Lilacs in bloom.
The Cardinal is back,
Singing to me every morn'
A new season has been reborn !
